Clarence and Lilly Pickett Endowment for Quaker Leadership

Guidelines & Expectations

Guidelines for the Monthly Meeting or Church:

We ask that grantees seek their meeting's support for the project in order to provide them with a base of spiritual support. All Pickett Endowment grant awards must be administered and overseen by a Quaker meeting or Friends church, or if necessary, other appropriate recognized Quaker organization. While not required, we suggest the use of a clearness process as a candidate discerns personal direction and project feasibility as well.

We encourage the meeting/church to assign a committee or person to provide support for the applicant throughout the duration of the project.

Guideline for the Grantee:

We request that candidates communicate early in the process with their meeting/church regarding their nomination and application, and that they maintain communication and seek the support of their meeting/church throughout the duration of the project.

We ask each recipient to provide a written progress or final report of his/her project to the Pickett Endowment by January 15th of the following year. In your report, briefly summarize in two or three typewritten pages (sent by email as an attachment, if possible) the following:

We enjoy hearing how the project unfolded for both the grantee and others involved. In particular, these reports help the Pickett Endowment evaluate its work. We encourage grantees to share this report with their meeting/church as well.

We urge you to acknowledge the Pickett Endowment in any presentation or written materials related to the project, and we encourage you to share information about the Pickett Endowment with others.

We may on occasion invite grantees to optional events or seek your input for overall evaluation.
